We replay our painful experiences on a continuous loop in our minds.  We wish the outcome had been different--that he would have loved us more or that they wouldn’t have abused us.  But no matter how good we get at masking the pain, our wounds haven’t even begun to heal. Disappointments, hurt , fear, shame, and guilt are all things we go through, once in a while (some more frequently than others) and we sometimes allow these things to weigh on us. What’s more is that in those dark moments, we become silent, and secretly let those thoughts and emotions eat away at us.
